ITE
Graduates Breeze Through Bumpy Economic Ride
The ability of ITE graduates to secure jobs easily and command a
reasonably good earning power even during times of crisis, confirms
that the foundation laid by an ITE education could withstand the
harshness of economic realities. “The findings of the 2002
ITE Graduate Employment Survey speak volumes
of an ITE education. Even in trying times, employers continue to
vote their confidence in ITE graduates,” said Mr Heng Chee
How, Mayor of Central Singapore District and Member of Parliament,
Jalan Besar GRC at the Rotary-ITE Alumni Achiever Awards Ceremony
held in ITE on 21 February 2003.
New
Logistics Option Draws GCE ‘O’ School Leavers
Come July 2003, a new course in Logistics will be making its presence
in ITE. The Higher Nitec in Integrated
Logistics Management course is a two-year full-time course,
which aims to train school leavers to become Logistics Coordinators
or Logistics Assistants. At the recent Joint Admissions Exercise,
a steady stream of school leavers and their parents was seen making
a beeline for a counter at ITE West (Clementi) in early March to
find out more about what ITE’s latest course has to offer.
We
Have Come a Long Way
Five outstanding ITE alumni who excel in their respective fields
were honoured with the Rotary-ITE Alumni Achiever
Awards at a Presentation Ceremony on 21 February 2003. The prestigious
awards presented to the winners by Mr Heng Chee How, Mayor of Central
Singapore District and Member of Parliament, Jalan Besar GRC were
given out by ITE and the Rotary Club of Bugis Junction, Singapore.
Getting
Ready for St Gallen
They are all, without any doubts, winners on the home front but
come June 19, will 12 of Singapore’s most skilful youths and
winners of the National Skills Competition 2002, be able to ‘bare
their fangs’ and repeat their sweet victory on a foreign land,
defeating some of the world’s best? For now, the question
is best left unanswered as competitors and coaches intensely travel
the paces of grooming and preparations to get the team up and ready
for the 37th World Skills Competition
(WSC), which will be making its return in St Gallen, Switzerland
from 19 to 22 June 2003.
