highlights-1 Unveiling of the New ITE College West at Choa Chu Kang

The design for the New ITE College West at Choa Chu Kang was unveiled by Mr Gan Kim Yong, then- Minister of State for Education and Manpower, on 18 February 2008. To be ready in 2010, the new College, which sits on a 9.54-hectare land, is uniquely designed for its niche in Service Excellence. The College is equipped with a Convention Centre, an Events Plaza, a training hotel and five restaurants, which simulate real-work environments for hospitality and service excellence training.

Minister Mentor Visits ITE

highlights-2 Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew visited ITE College East

Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew toured ITE College East on 21 February 2008 in his first visit to ITE. Calling ITE “a Singapore success story”, MM Lee noted that “ITE had done a good job” to give students added value so that they can make a contribution to life, to society and to make a good living. He also said that ITE has produced a number of graduates who had become successful entrepreneurs and businessmen. He was accompanied by Mrs Lee, Mr Yong Pung How, Member of the Council of Presidential Advisers and former Chief Justice, and Mr Gan Kim Yong, then-Minister of State for Education and Manpower.

ITE signed a three-year MoU with French giant, L’Oréal Singapore, on 27 February 2008. In an event graced by Mr Jean-Marie Demange, Minister-Counsellor, Head of the Economic Department for ASEAN Countries, French Embassy in Singapore, the partnership will benefit ITE lecturers and students from the new Nitec in Hair Fashion & Design course through transfer of L’Oréal’s technology and expertise through training collaterals, workshops and job attachments. Students can also expect to graduate from the course with an internationally-recognised industry certificate.
