Skilled Labour Boost for Marine Industry

To plug the demand for skilled labour in the marine industry, a new Higher Nitec in Marine Offshore Engineering course for GCE ‘O’ school leavers was launched on 16 January 2008, during a visit by the ITE Board of Governors to Keppel FELS Limited. An initiative much welcomed by the booming marine industry, 56 scholarships and sponsorships worth a total of $544,000 were offered by lead industry players to students accepted into the two-year course.

Dual Certification, Dual Career Options

highlights-1 The new Higher Nitec in Paramedic & Emergency Care and Nitec in Nursing Programme offers students hands-on training

ITE announced the launch of its first dual certification programme – the Higher Nitec in Paramedic & Emergency Care and Nitec in Nursing course – in response to the increasing demand for healthcare professionals in emergency care. Jointly developed by ITE and the Singapore Civil Defence Force, the course’s first intake would be in April 2008.

ITE Shares Winning Formula with African Leaders

highlights-2 African policy-makers and Senior officials visited ITE as part of the World Bank LETSGA Workshop

Some 40 policymakers and education specialists from the African nations of Ghana, Madagascar and Mozambique visited ITE to learn about its award-winning VTE system, as part of the World Bank “Leaders in Education and Training for Sustained Growth in Africa (LETSGA)” Workshop, held between 21January and 1 February 2008.
