ITE’s
New Buzzword…Going Global
Mr Ng Jin Kian, Executive Engineer from Beca Engineering Consulting (Shanghai)
Company Ltd is perfectly at home at Beijing. He prepares mechanical drawings
of buildings and spends his days meeting clients, consultants and contractors.
Going global is the new buzzword
for ITE graduates like Jin Kian. The ITE Advantage Plan, ITE’s strategic
plan for the next five years, has a global orientation, as its vision
is to be a Global Leader in Technical Education. What this translates
to for ITE graduates is that they will be equipped with skills required
to take on the world.
Book
on Bouncing Back from Business Failures Launched
Failure in business - how do you cope? More importantly, how do you bounce
back from failure and start anew? A new book, entitled
“Out of the Ashes: Trials and Tribulations of a Phoenix”,
captures the experiences of how eight established entrepreneurs overcame
crushing business failures to start successful businesses. These entrepreneurs
hail from a wide variety of businesses, including fashion, real estate,
logistics, courier and education services. The book is written by a group
of ITE staff. Entrepreneurs featured in the book include Dr Richard Tan,
CEO of Success Resources.
Promoting
Skills Excellence through WorldSkills
Singapore’s successful experience in promoting technical education
has inspired Mr Tjerk Dusseldorp, President of WorldSkills who felt that
Singapore is a good role model, having established a sound and robust
technical education system. Mr Dusseldorp and other WorldSkills officials
also felt that ITE is in a vantage position to help WorldSkills develop
a global skills portal.
It’s
the S R Nathan Cup for ITE Men’s Soccer Team!
In front of a crowd comprising guests from participating institutions
and ITE staff and students, the ITE Men’s Soccer Team beat defending
champion, Singapore Polytechnic 2-0, in the S
R Nathan Cup Soccer Finals. For the team, it was a sweet
victory. “For two years, victory eluded us…” said Head
Coach Emran Yusoff.

The World’s at our Feet!
Rejoice, Singapore! There is every reason to. Not only had we made other
countries sit up and take notice of our capabilities in IT at the recent
38th WorldSkills Competition
(WSC) in Helsinki, Finland, we brought every single audience at the 38th
WSC Prize Presentation and Closing Ceremony up on their feet. All thanks
to Viridis Liew, who certainly deserved the standing ovation and our heartiest
congratulations after her record-breaking feat.…
