ITE:
A TVET Study for World Bank and African Policy Makers
Committed
in its investment of Africa’s future through education, World Bank
initiated a high-level study visit to Singapore for a group of 35 World
Bank delegates and 30 African delegates from Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana,
Lesotho, Madagascar, and Mozambique, recently. During the two-day visit,
the delegation visited ITE College West and ITE College East, where they
studied the formation and transformation of ITE, as well as, toured the
Colleges’ facilities. With only praises for ITE, the delegation
was particularly impressed by the “One ITE System, Three Colleges”
Governance Model. Declaring the visit an inspirational and paradigm-changing
one, the delegates, amongst whom were six African Education Ministers,
shared that it would help them in their country’s education reforms.Mr
Rahul Gandhi Tours ITE College East
Mr
Rahul Gandhi, Member of the Lower House of the Indian Parliament, recently
spent some time touring the facilities of ITE College East.
Arriving
in Singapore for a short visit, Mr Gandhi was invited by Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam,
Minister for Education, to learn about ITE and Singapore’s TVET
system. Hosted by Dr Benjamin Tan, Deputy CEO (Corporate), Mr Gandhi was
given an overview of ITE and briefed on ITE’s new strategic directions.
Accompanied by Mr Shanmugaratnam, Mr Gandhi then went on a facility tour
of the College, including ITE – METI Centre for Healthcare Simulation
Training, ITE – Microsoft Business IT Solutions Centre and Beauty
Therapy Centre. Applauding the milestones and achievements that ITE has
made over the years, Mr Gandhi expressed confidence in ITE’s future
growth plans.
Dr
Gatot Makes First Visit to ITE in His New Appointment
In
his latest appointment as Head of Bureau of Planning and International
Cooperation, Ministry of National Education, Indonesia, Dr Ir Gatot Hari
Priowirjanto, made a recent courtesy call to ITE Headquarters. A familiar
face on the international vocational and technical education (VTE) circuit,
Dr Gatot, along with Mr Mirhan Tabrani, Principal/Sekolah Indonesia (Singapore),
was warmly received by Dr Benjamin Tan, Deputy CEO (Corporate). During
the two-hour visit, Dr Gatot shared on his goal to establish an overseas
‘friend’ for every Indonesian institution/university and encouraged
ITE to consider joint programmes with Indonesian institutions. Looking
forward to collaborating with ITE, Dr Gatot hoped to send Principals from
top Indonesian VTE institutions to ITE for a study visit in the next few
months.
