YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS REWARDED, NEW START-UPS RECOGNISED

by Hajijah Koming

Inspired by the people he had worked with for the past 11 years, Amit Sujan, 34, set up his own company, IT CAN Pte Ltd. He ventured out on his own so he could add value to the IT services and consultation industry. Amit believes in taking calculated risk. Working with a start-up capital of S$50,000, the young entrepreneur has forged alliances and tied contracts with multi-national and global finance companies since the company started operation in March 2006.

The business potential of IT CAN had not gone unnoticed. It was picked the Top Winner of the Shell LiveWIRE Award and awarded S$10,000. On how he felt about his win, the jubilant Amit remarked: “On top of the world! This award confirmed that IT CAN is on the right track. I am encouraged by this recognition and will continue with my journey towards excellence. I hope to expand our services to places like UK, USA and China.”

All six winners of the Shell LiveWIRE Award were recognised at a presentation ceremony held on Thursday, 18 October 2007, at ITE Headquarters. He encouraged them to “Think the impossible [and] think big”.

Thanking other Shell LiveWIRE Award partners – Shell Companies in Singapore, Singapore Press Holdings’ Chinese Newspaper Division and the ITE Alumni Association – Mr Bruce Poh, Director & CEO, ITE, said: “The Shell LiveWIRE Award programme has been successful and meaningful. It is our pleasure to note that past winners of the Award have done well in their businesses.”
