A chance to represent Singapore on the world stage. A shot at international recognition. An opportunity of a lifetime.
For many aspiring technical professionals, the WorldSkills Singapore competition represents the above and more.
A biennial nation-wide skills competition, WorldSkills Singapore is a platform for Singaporean youths who excel in various skills, to pit their talents against the best in the category, on home ground. This year, the competition will be held at ITE College East, from 16 to 18 October 2008. Top medallists will stand a chance to represent the country at the prestigious 40th WorldSkills Competition to be held in Calgary, Canada, in 2009.
For the first time, Beauty Therapy and Caring have been included in the list of competition areas. Three other skills areas – Automotive Technology, Cookery and Restaurant Service – will also be making a comeback this year, bringing the total number of competition areas for WorldSkills Singapore 2008 to 17.
WorldSkills Singapore 2008 is open to Singaporeans from secondary schools, Junior Colleges,
Polytechnics, ITE, companies and other institutions of higher learning.
