ITE and Hewlett-Packard (HP) Singapore (Sales) Pte Ltd announced collaboration in the areas of security and trusted information communications infrastructure in an MOU inked at ITE College East on 15 April 2008.
The tie-up will mean that more than 160 students who had signed up for the new Higher Nitec in Network Security Technology course, which began in April 2008, will graduate with an additional certificate – the internationally-recognised HP-UNIX Certification in IT Security, that would be a first for Singapore. The agreement will also lead to the establishment of the ITE-HP Infocomm Security Resource Centre at ITE College East, which will be used to train ITE students, as well as provide support to Small-and-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore to develop their technology capabilities and enhance their competitiveness in the global economy.
Said Mr Bruce Poh, Director & CEO, ITE: “With this collaboration, ITE graduates will be equipped with a solid foundation in security, including threat and vulnerability mitigation, privacy and governance. They can either service the industry or launch their own start-ups, as they develop new solutions with HP’s support.”
Agreeing, Ms Tan Yen Yen, Vice-President and Managing Director, HP Singapore, said: “The collaboration will train a new breed of info-security specialists who will help build a trusted security infrastructure for
Singapore.”
