IT was a day of colourful fun at ITE College Central on 20 November 2009, as some 120 four- to six-year-olds participated in a Children’s Carnival organised by students from the Higher Nitec in Early Childhood Education course.
The children had a chance to try their hands at mini-bowling, shooting with waterguns and other fun-filled games at the event, aptly themed “Clowning Around”. There were also art & craft activities and storytelling sessions.
Authentic Learning Opportunities
The highlight of the event was the signing of a Letter of Agreement between ITE College Central and the National Library Board (NLB). Under the agreement, the Bishan Public Library will become another learning platform for ITE’s Early Childhood Education students. They would be able to apply their skills in conducting children-related activities, such as storytelling and art & craft. NLB would also loan up to 2,000 storybooks as learning resources to ITE, under this partnership. There are also plans to include the students in other children-related projects, such as working alongside NLB staff as “Friends of Library” under its volunteer management programme. |
