Other than providing pre-employment training for full-time students, the Chemical Process Technology (CPT) Department of ITE College West also offers customised training courses for industries and external customers.
One of the customised programmes offered was a training session conducted at the premises of Fu Yu Corporation, an injection mould company which has recently commissioned its clean room. Employees of the company, from its management to the shopfloor, were given an introductory course on proper Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). They were brought through the overview of the dos and don’ts, as well as the ‘must’ and ‘may’ when entering and operating in a clean room environment.
The session was well received. Participants walked away with fresh knowledge and a better understanding of the stringent requirements which they need to adhere to in a clean room.
In addition to the above, CPT lecturers delivered another training programme for Aventis Pharma Manufacturing. The participants attended a ten-session Chemical Process Technology (Pharmaceuticals) course which covered topics on operational procedures, laboratory techniques, good manufacturing practices, process instrumentation and maintenance requirements in a chemical processing environment. The third course conducted was on steam boiler operation for Sumitomo Chemicals.
Generally, the course participants found the training and sharing sessions enriching.
ITE College West CPT Department strives to continually provide relevant and value-added services to external corporations. The offering of training programmes also provides opportunities for our training staff to renew and update their knowledge and skills by staying in touch with the vibes of industries. |
