On Saturday 15 Nov 2008, the ITE College East Auditorium was buzzing with activities in preparation for the Metta Shine Night under the CE-Metta Community Partnership. The partnership was renewed early this year and this is the third time the mega event was jointly organised by Metta Welfare Association and ITE College East. The Metta Shine Night is an annual extravaganza that brings out the vibrancy in their beneficiaries through song and dance and is also a fund raising event to benefit more than 900 beneficiaries for the operational costs of its nine centres located island wide, which include Disability Care, Medical Care, Student Care & Special Education. The Guest of Honour for the night was Venerable Shi Fa Zhao, President of Metta Welfare Association. Our Principal, Dr Ricky Tam, and the directorate team also showed their support by gracing the event. |

ITE College East was once again proud to be the co-host of this mega event, roping in our ever caring team of some 100 staff and student volunteers to render their support in various roles such as ushering, traffic marshalling, various logistics, handicraft sales, photography and make-up for the performers.
CE staff volunteers all raring to go!!

Exciting performances put up by Metta beneficiaries from the young to the elderly:

Apart from supporting behind the scenes, our students also took up the invitation to put up 2 performances – Soul Percussion, performed by a group of students from the various campuses, and a song item by April Kong Min Qi, who hails from the Sport Management course. Their performances had the audience enthralled and glued to their seats.

Samantha Liew (left), a first year student from the Logistics course, was the co-emcee for the event, together with a Metta student. It was indeed no mean feat for someone who is only in her first year, but Samantha gamely took up the challenge. Her lively emceeing and sweet voice really lit up the whole auditorium.
With the strong support from Senior Management, staff and students alike, it was indeed a heartwarming and a night well spent in the company of the Metta beneficiaries. Let’s hear what some of our volunteers, who participated for the very first time in the Metta Shine Night event, have to say ... |

The night was a success and we will continue to work on future programmes to benefit both staff and students of ITE College East and Metta Welfare Association. Cheers!
