GUIDELINES ON USE OF CALCULATORS IN THE EXAMINATIONS
INSTITUTE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION

UNACCEPTABLE FEATURES

(A)

Programmable calculators and those with permanent features of a programmed kind such as numerical integration, matrix or symbolic algebraic manipulation.

 
(B)

Calculators that give out sound, need external power supply or transmit signals.

 
(C)

Calculators with print function.

 
(D)

Calculators with language translation features.

 
(E)

Calculators that use typewriter-style QWERTY keypads.

 
(F)

Calculators that allow data entry via electronics writing pads or pen input devices.

 
(G)

Calculators that have graph plotting capability.

 
(H)

Calculators that allow access to websites, e-mail or messages (voice, text, graphic or pictorial).

 
(I)

Calculators that perform any of the following functions: memo, address book, scheduler, digital diary, database management or spreadsheet.
