grade point average

The Grade Point Average (GPA) represents a student’s current standing in the programme of study. It is the ratio of the total grade points earned to total credits attempted to date. The final GPA score at the point of graduation determines the student's overall programme performance.

GPA =

Σ(module credit units earned x module grade scale)
Σ(module credit units attempted)

The GPA includes all graded modules that are accountable towards certification and excludes the following :

  Modules assessed on a Pass/Fail grading system.
  Life Skills modules.
  Exempted modules.

Excellent
Student has demonstrated outstanding leadership capabilities; is mature and well regarded by peers, lecturers and management for his/her excellent performance.
Very Good
Student has consistently performed well; a keen learner and good team player, showing potential for leadership.
Good
Student is a good team player; willing to learn and contribute towards larger goals.
Fair
Student has generally demonstrated satisfactory performance, needing occasional guidance.
Unsatisfactory
Student has shown little evidence of effort to learn and contribute as a team player.
