how to apply

| Higher Nitec | Nitec & ISC | Application For Module Exemption |

ITE offers a wide range of part-time Higher National ITE Certificate (Higher Nitec), National ITE Certificate (Nitec) and ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) courses to cater to the upgrading needs of the workforce. The part-time Higher Nitec/Nitec/ISC courses are offered in modules to allow working adults the flexibility to choose modules according to their needs. Each module can be completed in 6 months under the regular part-time course. A module certificate will be awarded for Higher Nitec/Nitec module(s) completed successfully in an examination series.

Depending on the demand, not all the modules in the part-time Higher Nitec/Nitec/ISC courses will be offered in each intake. Where the modules are offered and there is insufficient enrolment, the classes will be cancelled and a full refund will be given to the affected students.

It is important that applicants are physically and medically fit to pursue the courses applied for. ITE reserves the right to reject applicants with existing physical/medical conditions if they are deemed unsuitable for the courses applied for.

Application For Module Exemption

Students can apply for exemption from one or more modules in a course of study based on their relevant prior learning acquired from ITE or other institutions. The number of modules to be granted exemption will not exceed 50% of the total credits required for certification of the course, for a maximum period of 6 years (from the date of first examinations taken). For example, for a course that requires 72 credits for certification, the total credit worth of the modules granted exemption would not exceed 36 credits.

You must have already enrolled into at least one module in a course of study before applying for module exemption.

Submit completed application forms to your campus of study with supporting documents listed as follows:
- Certified true copies of relevant certificates. Certificates issued by foreign institutions must be certified true copies;
- Detailed results;
- Relevant syllabus(es) with breakdown of curriculum duration for theory lessons and practical training;

Notification of Results
You will be notified of the outcome of your applications by post. As ITE course management reserves the right of final decision, no appeals for re-evaluation will be entertained.

Module Exemption based on ITE Certifications

Applications for module exemption based on ITE certifications will be handled by a different procedure. Module exemption can be granted for:
NTC-3 certificate awarded in other modes of training [e.g., Public Trade Test (PTT), Approved Training Providers (ATP)] beside part-time; or
Module(s) successfully completed in other modes of training.

Students can apply for module exemptions at Campus Administration Office/Customer Service Centre 6 weeks before commencement of training.

Students should apply for module exemption upfront during their course of study so that they can be advised on the modules that can be exempted and outstanding modules that need to be completed. This will enable students to plan their course of study so as to be awarded a Nitec or Higher Nitec full certificate automatically upon successful completion of all outstanding modules for the course.
