National Precision Engineering Scholarships (NPES)
For Technical Engineer Diploma in Machine Technology course
The NPES is a scholarship programme for the Precision Engineering industry jointly developed by the industry, EDB and SPRING. The National Precision Engineering Scholarships are available to qualified Singaporean applicants. Each scholarship will pay for the annual tuition fees (excluding registration, supplementary & examination fees) of $2,150 for a total duration of 2 years and a monthly allowance of $800.00 for the same 2-year duration. For the NPES award, the sponsored student has to sign a Deed of Undertaking with ITE that upon completing the 2 years of institutional training and national service if applicable, he or she will be bonded to work in a company in the Precision Engineering or Precision Engineering-related sectors in Singapore for 3 years. The bond period will include the 1.5 years of work experience where applicable, to fulfil Technical Engineer Diploma in Machine Technology course requirement.
Criteria for NPES
Higher Nitec graduates with a GPA ≥ 3.0; and
Nitec graduates with a GPA ≥ 3.5
Applicants will need to indicate their interest to apply for scholarship during their application. Shortlisted applicants will need to attend an interview.
Community Development Council & Citizen's Consultative Committee-Institute of Technical Education (CDC & CCC-ITE) Bursary
The CDC & CCC-ITE Bursary is open to Singaporean applicants seeking admission to ITE full-time courses and whose gross monthly household per capita income is $500 and below.
The bursary quantum is $1,200 per year.
Each award is for one year. Recipients progressing to the next academic year (with a full-year of training) will be required to apply for the bursary award at the beginning of the new academic year.
Applicants for the bursary must not be in receipt of the CDC & CCC-ITE Scholarship or any other scholarship/bursary award (exclusing Edusave Merit Bursary). Company-sponsored students and trainees are not eligible for the CDC & CCC-ITE Bursary.
Applicants are required to submit a Family Income Declaration through the web and submit the supporting income documents (eg latest payslips, letters from employers) to the Campus Administration Office for verification. Applicants can follow the steps below to submit their Family Income Declaration through the web:
Logon to Student Portal with ID and password.
Click on "iStudent" -> "iStudent Administration System"
Click on "Campus Finances" -> "CDC Bursary Application"
Those who qualify for the Bursary will be issued the CDC & CCC-ITE Bursary application form for them to submit to the CCs nearest their homes. Successful applicants will be informed by the respective CCCs.
Special Student Assistance Scheme
The Special Student Assistance Scheme (SSAS) is aimed at providing financial assistance to needy ITE full-time students who require financial support for one reason or another after the application period for the CDC & CCC-ITE Bursary. In a way, the SSAS is an exigency scheme to provide support to needy students, so that they can continue with their technical training.
Financial assistance under the SSAS could comprise waiver of fees (course fees, supplementary fees and/or examination fees) and/or cash award.
To be eligible for the SSAS award, a full-time student should meet the following criteria:
Gross monthly household per capita is $500 and below.
Must not be in receipt of the CDC & CCC-ITE Scholarship or Bursary;
Must not be a sponsored student or a trainee; and
Must have at least 3 months' training to undergo till the end of the academic year.
To apply for financial assistance under the scheme, applicants will be required to complete a prescribed application form and submit it with supporting income documents to the campus of study.
Mendaki Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS)
The Mendaki Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy is a financial scheme aimed at helping needy Malay students studying in the ITE Diploma course. The eligibility criteria for the Mendaki Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy are that Malay students who have enjoyed free secondary and/or pre-university education and the gross monthly family income does not exceed $3,000.
The gross monthly family income includes the gross incomes of parents/guardians and unmarried brothers and sisters who are living in the same household. This does not include married brothers and sisters and other relatives, even if they stay at the same address. In addition, the gross monthly income of each family member includes only the basic income and Monthly Variable Component (MVC) or National Wage Council (NWC) or NPC or NPVP or related monthly component. It excludes all other allowances such as overtime, leave allowances, transport allowance, bonuses, etc.
If the gross monthly family income is $2,000 and below, the subsidy of tuition fees will be 100%. However, if the gross monthly family income is between $2,000 and $3,000, the subsidy of tuition fees will be 70%.
Students can apply for the subsidy at the beginning of the academic year using the prescribed application form. The completed forms will then be verified by the College and sent to MENDAKI for processing. Once the forms are processed, MENDAKI will inform both the College and students of the outcome. MENDAKI will make the payment for successful applicants directly to the College. A student need apply only once throughout his/her whole course of study. Once approved, the subsidy is automatic for the subsequent years of study. Students are not required to pay the tuition fees until the College has been informed of the outcome. The outcome of a student's application will be known after the start of the academic year.
CPF EDUCATION SCHEME
The CPF Education Scheme is a loan scheme. The total amount withdrawn for tuition fees plus accrued interest has to be repaid in full with cash . Repayment will start one year after date of graduation or date of leaving the institution, whichever is earlier. Interest starts accruing from the day of withdrawal, and is pegged to the prevailing CPF Ordinary Account interest rate which is currently 2.5% pa. As a student taking a full-time government subsidized course leading to a diploma or degree at an approved local tertiary institution, you may apply for a loan from your own or your parent’s CPF savings to pay your tuition fees.

TUITION FEE LOAN
Tuition Fee Loan (TFL) Scheme
All full-time subsidised diploma students can borrow up to a maximum of 75% of the tuition fee payable under the TFL scheme. The TFL scheme does not cover supplementary fees. Students who are interested in taking up a TFL must complete the necessary application form and, submit it to the campus when reporting for registration. Details on TFL are obtainable from the campus of study.
The closing date for TFL application is when the term starts on 12 April 2010.
