NITEC IN DIGITAL MEDIA DESIGN
Course Objective

This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to work creatively and collaboratively across diverse digital media. This course also provides training in one of the two specialisations - Interactive Media and Digital Video Effects.

Interactive Media
This specialisation provides students with the skills and knowledge to work with types and graphics creatively to communicate ideas across the different media platforms.
Digital Video Effects
This specialisation provides students with the skills and knowledge to work creatively to produce videos and graphics in motion for the new media industries.

On completion of the module, students should be able to apply the fundamentals of drawing using different drawing techniques and medium to express their perception of forms. They should also be to draw the human anatomy and animals with understanding of the concept of posing & “action line”.

M2 Principles of Design

On completion of the module, students should be able to apply the basic principles of form and shapes, types and composition with focus on the design processes and understanding of creativity in general. They should also be able to choose and apply colours for various mediums.

M3 Print & Web Design Fundamentals

M4 2D & 3D Animation

IT2013PR

On completion of the module, students should be able to apply the principles of animation to create basic 2D and 3D animations using the respective Digital animation tools .

M5 Print Design

M5 Storyboarding & Digital Video Production

On completion of the module, students should be able to create an effective storyboard from rough sketches to finished product for presentation. They should then be able to acquire good quality video clips using appropriate video capture and editing techniques.

On completion of the module, students should be able apply their graphics practice to the dimension of time, animation, key framing and movements.

M7 Digital Video Graphics

On completion of the module, students should be able to perform compositing and editing to combine video and effects. They should also be able to create advanced video effects with the use of plug-ins, filters, channel enhancements and the techniques of masking and mattes creation.

Entry Requirements
  • Completed GCE 'N' level; or
  • WDA Employability Skills System level with L5 in Literacy (Reading) and L5 in Literacy (Listening) and L5 in Numeracy.
  • Applicant should be free from colour blindness.
 
Training Schedule

Evening classes – Lessons are held two evenings a week, from 1845 hours to 2145 hours.

Weekend classes – Lessons are held once a week, from 0900 hours to 1600 hours.
