M4 Security Electronics Applications

On completion of the module, students should be able to install, commission, maintain and upgrade surveillance systems including CCTV and DVR systems.  They will also learn the various types of lenses, photography technique and requirement, technique in digitization and memory storage. 

M7 Intrusion & Access Control Systems

On completion of the module, students should be able to install, commission, troubleshoot and upgrade intrusion detection and access control systems.  They will also learn the various types of biometric readers, card readers, locking systems, controllers, RFID and management software.   

M8 Industrial Attachment

Students will undergo a 3-month On-the-Job Training (OJT) programme with security systems solution providers to complement and reinforce the skills and knowledge acquired at ITE College and to develop new competencies in other systems not covered in the curriculum.  The training activities will be based on the OJT tasks list derive from the skills standard.

Entry Requirements
  • Completed GCE 'N' level; or
  • Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) Employability Skills System (ESS) level with L5 in Literacy (Reading) and L5 in Literacy (Listening) and L5 in Numeracy.
  • Applicant should be free from colour blindness.

Note:
Applicants who wish to enrol for M6-Surveillance Systems and M7-Intrusion and Access Control Systems modules must be employed by related security systems companies. Proof of employment is required before class commencement.

Applicants should also note the requirment of Industrial Attachment where the applicant's company must certify the fulfillment of the stipulated number of tasks in the task list by the applicant.

Students need to complete the On-The-Job (OJT) tasks to achieve the full Nitec in Security Technology certificate.

Depending on demand, not all the modules in the part-time Nitec courses will be offered in each intake. Where the modules are offered and there is insufficient enrolment, the classes will be cancelled and a full refund will be given to the affected students.

 
Training Schedule

Evening classes – Lessons are held two evenings a week, from 1845 hours to 2145 hours.

Weekend classes – Lessons are held once a week, from 0900 hours to 1600 hours.
