The previously known Ayer Rajah Vocational Institute (ARVI) which was set up in 1979 and the HQ Vocational & Industrial Training Board (HQ VITB) were situated in the same ground at Dover Drive - previously known as Vocational Drive . It provided various training level namely: Pre-Vocational Training (PVT), Basic Skills Training (BST) and National Trade Certification (NTC3).

Since 1996, the campus has evolved and transformed to stay relevant with the fast changing environment. Thousands of students have graduated from here and are doing their part in contributing to the economy of our country. Some of our brightest students have also achieved top honours in the Polytechnics and Universities where they had gone to further their studies. ITE College West (Dover Campus) is indeed a stepping stone to success for all who pass through her portal.
