On 3 November 2008, representatives and guests from Intel Technology Asia and Seagate International Headquarters Pte Ltd were gathered at ITE College West (Clementi Campus) for a signing ceremony to officiate the donation of laptops to ITE students.

Intel was represented by Mr Patrick Liew, Singapore Country Manager and Mr Chang Tsann, IT Manager. Seagate was represented by Ms Katherine Chan, APAC Marketing Director and Ms Ashley Lim, APAC Marketing Communications Manager. ITE was represented by Dr Yek Tiew Ming, Principal ITE College West and Mr Goh Mong Song, Deputy Principal ITE College West. The collaboration was cast in ink when the representatives of Intel, Seagate and ITE penned down their signatures on the letter of agreement.

A total of eighty laptops would be donated over 2 years. The 2-year old used laptops from Intel, refurbished with new hard disk drives by Seagate, are still in good condition. Donated to ITE for distribution to ITE students, the various departments would shortlist the deserving and financially needy students, who would be given the laptops free of charge.

From the address delivered by Mr Patrick Liew and Ms Katherine Chan, it was evident that both organizations viewed contribution towards educational causes as both meaningful and important. It was also shared that separately, Intel had engaged ITE in the Intel Fund Matching Programme, in which Intel Foundation would contribute $10 per hour to a school or non governmental organization (NGO) when their staff take an active part in contributing towards the school or NGO.

The representatives and guests were all hosted to a western set lunch by Dr Yek Tiew Ming, Principal and Mr Goh Mong Song, Dy Principal of ITE College West, at the Amber @ West Training Retaurant. Our trainee chefs from Culinary Skills (Western) whipped up a delightful treat of Seabass Set Lunch and the guests were served by our Food and Beverage students.
