Are you enthusiastic about how computer systems communicate with other computers and peripherals in a networked environment? Do you want to know how to manage server operating system and implement secured wireless and wired networking environment?

To cater to industry demand, the new 3-year curriculum structure comprises the specialised and deepened skills sets built upon broad-based foundation skills sets for the Infocomm Technology (ICT) sector. You will learn how to set up, maintain and troubleshoot end-user computing devices, network, server and application in a hybrid infrastructure environment. You will also implement wireless LAN and network security, as well as assist in the support of IT project development to ensure smooth operations of Infocomm hardware and software in the organisation.

Entry Requirements

Admission to Year 1 of the 3-year curriculum structure:

GCE ‘O’ level grades in any 2 subjects:

  • Grade 1-8

or

GCE ‘N’ level passes in Mathematics or Science* and 2 other subjects:

  • Grade A-D or Grade 1-5

* Mobile Robotics, Smart Electrical Technology, Mechanical Design & Automation, IoT Applications, and Mobile Web Applications subjects can be used in lieu of Science for admission to this Higher Nitec course.

Career Opportunities

Higher Nitec in IT Systems & Networks graduates can be employed by Information Technology (IT) users and supplier organisations. The IT users are public or private organisations using computer systems (networked or stand-alone) in their business operations. The IT suppliers are companies providing computer hardware / software and IT services. Some of the job titles held by graduates include IT Specialist, IT Technician, Network Support Specialist, IT Technical Support Specialist, Associate System Administrator, Desktop Support Engineer and Network Traffic Engineer.
