The Work-Study Diploma in Automation Engineering adopts a work-study approach to prepare you for a professional career in the Precision Engineering sector.

You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer-controlled systems, equipment and robotics in advanced manufacturing facilities.

Prerequisite:

Trainees must have good learning attitude and have interest to grow their careers in the Advanced Manufacturing industry. Free from colour appreciation deficiency

Job Role:

An Assistant Automation Engineer is one who sets up automated equipment and systems, including assembly, integration, testing, inspection, as well as carrying out maintenance and troubleshooting activities to ensure optimum performance in production to meet organisational objectives.

The work he/she performs includes the following:

  • Install mechanical system
  • Install electrical and electronic systems
  • Install sensory system
  • Integrate automated system
  • Maintain automated system
  • Set up smart monitoring system
  • Develop conceptual design
  • Improve automated system

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  1. ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;

    Nitec (GPA ≥ 2) & Higher Nitec graduates of all courses from School of Engineering & School of Electronics & Info-Comm Technology

    OR

  2. In-service employees+ with:
    • Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
    • Relevant work experience
    • Strong employer endorsement

    +In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

  3. Free from colour appreciation deficiency

On completion of this diploma programme, you can take up jobs as Assistant Engineers or Associate Engineers.
