CORE MODULES
- Business Communication (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to communicate effectively and handle both oral and written communications required in a business/work environment.
- Office Applications (5 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to produce office documents, process and organise data, create simple personal and business homepage, and create presentations using commonly used software packages as well as send, retrieve and search for information using internet and electronic mail.
- Business Fundamentals (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to give an overview of the general business and the importance of international business. Students are also trained on the use of statistics in business and to interpret common statistical information. Students are also covers customer service strategies, standards and service recovery.
- Accounting Fundamentals (5 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to record business transactions and prepare bank reconciliation statements and control accounts.
- Intermediate Accounting (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to compute the depreciation of fixed assets, determine the value of stock using various methods of valuation, correct various types of errors through journal entries, and prepare final accounts for sole proprietorship and non-trading organisations.
- Advanced Accounting I (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to prepare final accounts for partnership and limited liability companies and analyse financial statements using accounting ratios.
- Advanced Accounting II (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to record hire purchase transactions and prepare cash-flow statements, cash budgets, budgeted financial statements for business organisation. Students are also trained to use standard accounting package to record business transactions in the relevant books and to prepare financial statements.
- Costing (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to apply costing principles and methods to ascertain the costs of labour, materials and overheads, and to prepare cost accounts for ascertaining the costs of process, products and services.
- Auditing (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to apply auditing concepts and principles.

- Life Skills for Personal Development (8 credits)
Life skills in broad terms are the foundation skills and personal qualities
that an individual can transfer from one job setting to another to manage
and adapt to changes in technology and work environments.

On completion of the module, students should be able to maintain a fit and healthy body and develop an appreciation of sports and games.

On completion of the module, students should be able to explain the various aspects of the human resource department in an organisation.
- Principles of Management (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to relate the principles of management to the activities and role of a secretarial/administration appointment in the present day organisation environment.
- Personal Taxation (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to compute the income tax payable of individuals.
- Business Taxation (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to compute income tax payable of sole proprietorship, limited liability companies and individuals.
- Tourism Products and Services (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to describe the various products and services that are offered in the travel and tourism industry and other travel-related services.
- Business Statistics (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to compute and present statistical data for use in business. The training covers collection, organisation and presentation of statistical data, measures of central tendency, dispersion and normal distribution, index numbers, time series analysis and regression and correlation analysis.
- Managing People and Systems (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to explain the roles of a manager in an effective, efficient, safe and secure accounting environment. This includes the coordination of work activities, the maintenance of an effective accounting system, people management, personal effectiveness, health and safety, and security issues within the workplace.
- Preparing Taxation Computations (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to prepare computations of tax liability for individuals, businesses and companies resident in Singapore for income tax purposes.
- Planning, Control and Performance Management (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to apply management accounting techniques to support the management processes of planning, decision-making, control and performance management.
- Managing Finance (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to explain the ways organisations finance their operations, plan and control cash flows, optimise their use of working capital and allocate resources to capital expenditure projects.

Students should be able to converse in Mandarin in the business environment and be able to develop skills in interpreting business correspondence. The scope of training covers brief introduction of business environment, business etiquette, communication techniques and business correspondence.
