Entry Requirements

Applicant will be tested for colour recognition disability on admission.

For school leavers, you need to have at least Three GCE 'O' Level Grades:

Grades 1 - 8 in English Language,
Grades 1 - 7 in Mathematics (Elementary or Additional) and
Grades 1 - 7 in an approved Science subject.

Note:
Approved Science subjects are Physics, Physical Science, Engineering Science, Science (Physics/Chemistry), Science (Physics/Chemistry/Biology), Science (Physics/Biology), Integrated Science and Combined Science.

 
Course Synopsis

On completion of the course, students should be able to:

Perform game testing.

Develop program codes.
Create and animate 2D/3D models.
Participate in the game design process.
Customise games for specific target audiences.
Support game packaging and promotion.

CORE MODULES

- Game Design Principles (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to create a complete game design document and technical design document following industry requirements and manage the game evelopment
process from concept to release.
- Game Asset Creation (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to illustrate game play elements, process digital imaging and basic multimedia using 2D and 3D graphics technologies for developing casual computer games.
- 2D Game Development (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to develop 2D games using 2D game authoring tool and 2D game techniques.
- Game Level Design (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to design and edit effective levels for a variety of different game types for playability.
- Project (10 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to apply and integrate the technical, social and methodological competencies in carrying a project related to their field of study.


SPECIALISATION MODULES

Games Art

- Game Character Design (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to design and create game characters with artistic feel and graphical expression that fits the design of the game.
- Game Environmental Design (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to create immersive and interactive environments for games by applying principles of design and theories of architecture and landscape design.
- Game Packaging (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to apply design principles to develop game demo, trailers and packaging and print design for the games.


Games Programming


- Software and Programming Fundamentals (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to apply objectoriented concepts and modular techniques to develop programme for computer applications.
- Mobile Game Development (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to design, develop and deploy mobile games using various programming strategies, techniques and platforms to develop games on mobile devices.
- Games Programming (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to create and develop 2D casual games using game programming concepts and techniques.

LIFE SKILLS MODULES

- Life Skills for Personal Development (8 credits) and Life Skills at the Workplace (4 credits)
Life skills in broad terms are the foundation skills and personal qualities that an individual can transfer from one job setting to another to manage and adapt to changes in technology and work environments.
- Sports and Wellness I (1 credit)
On completion of the module, students should be able to maintain a fit and healthy body and develop an appreciation of sports and games.
- Sports and Wellness II (1 credit)
On completion of the module, students should be able to maintain a fit and healthy body and develop an appreciation of sports and games.

On the completion of the module, students should be able to apply and integrate various digital sound effects and audio techniques to enhance the gameplay.
- 3D Character Design (2 credits)
On the completion of the module, students should be able to use texturing and modelling tools to create 3D character and produce artworks for 3D games.

On completion of the module, students should be able to draft out a business plan through identifying business opportunities, applying marketing mix strategies with sound financial analysis.
