CORE MODULES
- Business Communication (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to communicate effectively and handle both oral and written communications required in a business/work environment.
- Office Applications (5 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to produce office documents, process and organise data, create simple personal and business homepage and create presentations using commonly used software packages as well as send, retrieve and search for information using internet and electronic mail.
- Business Fundamentals (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to give an overview of the general business and the importance of international business. Students are also trained to explain the use of statistics in business and to interpret common statistical information. Students are also trained on customer service strategies, standards and recovery.
- Logistics and Supply Chain Management (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to explain the concept of logistics, objectives and key activities of logistics, the various parties involving in providing logistics services and know the trends and challenges facing the logistics industry. In addition, students will be trained on basic supply chain management concepts.
- Cargo Documentation and Practices (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to explain the trade procedure, interpret international trading terms, identify customs documentation and procedures, handle dangerous goods shipment, insurance and security issues in exporting cargo to USA. In addition, students will be trained to explain the trade procedure specific to Singapore and be able to declare permits using the TradeNet system.
- Freight Operations and Distribution Management (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to explain the freight process and the cost involved in effecting a shipment, to prepare the various shipping documents needed in the sea, air freight and multi-modal environment. Students are trained to explain the documentation used and the procedure for local distribution, the local clearance at the sea and airport in Singapore which will cover both containerised and conventional transportation.
- Warehousing and Inventory Management (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to explain the various functions of a warehouse and to perform the various transactions and activities in a typical warehouse environment. In addition, students will be trained to explain the other aspects of warehousing which will include inventory control and management, the measurements of warehouse performance, and safety and security issues in a warehouse.
- Industry Attachment (12 credits)
Students are provided with the opportunity to work in an actual business environment.

- Life Skills for Personal Development (8 credits)
Life skills in broad terms are the foundation skills and personal qualities
that an individual can transfer from one job setting to another to manage
and adapt to changes in technology and work environments.
- Sports and Wellness I (1 credit)
On completion of the module, students should be able to maintain a fit and healthy body and develop an appreciation of sports and games.

- Business Statistics (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to compute and present statistical data for use in business. The training covers collection, organisation and presentation of statistical data, measures of central tendency, dispersion and normal distribution, index numbers, time series analysis, regression and correlation analysis.
- Principles of Financial Accounting and Costing (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to record simple business transactions, prepare simple final accounts and balance sheet, interpret accounting ratios and compute costing of jobs and services.
- Principles of Purchasing (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to understand the purchasing activities of a logistics company. The content includes principles of purchasing, purchase management process and purchasing planning and information.
- Material Planning (4 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to explain the concepts and means of material requirement planning and inventory planning and control.
- Material Handling Equipment (Forklift Operator Training) (2 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to explain the various types, parts and functions of a forklift. They are also trained in handling a forklift with or without a load in various environmental conditions. In addition, they are also trained to identify the safety aspects of handling materials and when operating a forklift. Students are also provided an opportunity to obtain formal recognition as a certified equipment operator.

On completion of the module, students should be able to apply the knowledge and skills acquired from the course to identify a business opportunity and to develop a business plan for launching and operating a small enterprise. The training also covers market and competitor analysis, and fundamentals of business finance.

On completion of the module, students should be able to use a software application for planning and managing projects.
- First Aid, CPR and Sports Injuries (2 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to apply basic concepts and principles of first aid to render first aid treatment at the workplace and perform CPR during an emergency.

On completion of the module, students should be able to converse in Mandarin in the business environment and be able to develop skills in interpreting business correspondence.
