Higher Nitec in Mobile Unified Communications

 

Have you ever wondered how handphones work?

If you would like to play a role in the field of communications technology, then equip yourself with knowledge from the Higher Nitec in Mobile Unified Communications course. You will learn to use unified communications platforms in enterprise business applications and develop mobile device applications for enterprises and corporate and social games.

Acquire knowledge and skills which are highly relevant to the industry

  • Establish telecommunications network performance by installing voice and data networks, communications software, equipment, and network facilities.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all hardware related to Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony platform, Session Initialization Protocol (SIP) gateways and SIP phones.
  • Provide support for Next Generation Network (NGN), Internet, Multiprotocol Layer Switching (MPLS), Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP).
  • Develop customized Internet Protocol (IP) phone applications for real-time communications (XML).
  • Develop a unified communications solution.
  • Maintain and support the mobile extension to the enterprise unified communications (Mobile unified client-server for enterprise telephony features like unified messaging, voicemail, remote call control, Wi-Fi mobile extension).
  • Solve enterprise business applications with unified communications platform.
  • Deploy audio and video conferencing technologies using IP networks.
  • Develop mobile device applications for enterprise, corporate, social (games).
  • Perform general Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN) and Wireless LAN (WLAN) installation, configuration and administration.
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance and system optimization.

Entry Requirements

To apply for the Higher Nitec in Mobile Unified Communications course, you need to have:

Subject
Grade
GCE 'O' level grades in English Language, Mathematics and 1 approved Science subject
  • Grade 1 - 8 in English Language
  • Grade 1 - 7 in Mathematics (Elementary or Additional)
  • Grade 1 - 8 in an approved Science subject
or
 
GCE ‘N(A)’ level passes in English Language, Mathematics and 3 other subjects
  • Grade 1-4 in English Language
  • Grade 1-4 in Mathematics
  • Grade 1-5 in 3 other subjects; and
    A total of 19 points or less for English, Mathematics and three other subjects (ELMAB3) *

* GCE N(A) school leavers who applied during the January intake under the Direct Entry Scheme will undergo 10 weeks of preparatory programme followed by 2 years of Higher Nitec training

Higher Nitec in Mobile Unified Communications graduates with good results may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics.

Higher Nitec in Mobile Unified Communications graduates are employed by the computer & IT, mobile or telecommunication establishments such as mobile service providers, network solution integrators, mobile phone manufacturers; as well as business organizations.
