Higher Nitec in Visual Merchandising



Have you ever wanted to know what goes behind the design of a window display?

Take up the Higher Nitec in Visual Merchandising course and learn how to use different forms of media to conceptualise, design and implement window and in-store displays. You will also learn how to use different forms of media to create a wonderful retail experience!

Entry Requirements

To apply for the Higher Nitec in Visual Merchandising course, you need to have:

Subject
Grade
GCE 'O' level grades in English Language and 2 other subjects

 

  • Grade 1 - 7 in English Language
  • Grade 1 - 8 in any two subjects

(To be eligible for selection, applicant must also have sat for Mathematics)

or
 
GCE ‘N(A)’ level passes in English Language, Mathematics and 3 other subjects
  • Grade 1-3 in English Language
  • Grade 1-4 in Mathematics
  • Grade 1-5 in 3 other subjects; and
    A total of 19 points or less for English, Mathematics and three other subjects(ELMAB3) *

* GCE N(A) school leavers who applied during the January intake under the Direct Entry Scheme will undergo 10 weeks of preparatory programme followed by 2 years of Higher Nitec training.

Note: Applicants applying for this course must ensure that they do not have complete colour appreciation deficiency. Applicants with partial colour appreciation deficiency may apply.

Progression Opportunities

Higher Nitec in Visual Merchandising graduates with good results may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics.

Career Prospects

Higher Nitec in Visual Merchandising graduates are employed by the retail or service establishments, such as department stores, shopping malls, and specialty stores.

There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.
