You will learn to identify and analyse hair and scalp conditions and provide hair and scalp therapy. You will also play an important role in providing advice on hair care and nutrition.

  • Provide client consultation.
  • Provide customer service.
  • Provide wash and blow dry service.
  • Produce haircut service.
  • Provide hair colouring service.
  • Perform identification and analysis of hair and scalp conditions.
  • Provide hair and scalp therapy.
  • Provide advice on hair care and nutrition.
  • Promote hair and scalp treatment products.
  • Handle daily operations in a hair salon/hair care centres.

Entry Requirements

To apply for the Nitec in Hair Services (Hair & Scalp Therapy) course, you need to have:

Subject
Grade
GCE 'O' level grades in any 2 subjects
1 - 8
Or
GCE 'N' level passes in English Language and 2 other subjects
A - D or 1 - 5


Note: Applicants applying for this course must undergo pre-course interview and clear a pre-entry medical check-up .This course comprises full-time campus training and company-based training.

Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Hair Services (Hair & Scalp) graduates with a GPA of 2.8 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.

Career Prospects

Nitec in Hair Services (Hair & Scalp)  graduates are employed by hair and scalp services establishments such as hair salons and hair care centres. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Hair Care Therapist, Hair Care Assistant and Hair Care Consultant.

There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.
