Nitec in Medical Manufacturing Technology


You can be the real hero behind every successful doctor and dentist who treat patients. If you are wondering how medical devices such as dental implants and bone screws are made, you should join this course now!

You will learn to perform machine assembly and testing and prototype modelling.

Acquire knowledge and skills gained which are highly relevant to the industry

  • Create multi-axis part program for Multi-axis Machining Centre and Milling Machine (HSM) using CAD/CAM system.
  • Set up and operate Multi-axis Machining Centre and CNC High Speed Milling Machine.     
  • Manufacture medical components such as dental implants, bone screws orthopaedic devices.
  • Assemble injection mould.
  • Perform mould setting and testing.
  • Develop mould design using CAD/CAM system.
  • Perform quality checks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.

Entry Requirements

To apply for the Nitec in Medical Manufacturing Technology course, you need to have:

Subject
Grade
GCE ‘O’ Level Grade in any 2 subjects
1 - 8
or
 
GCE ‘N’ level passes in Mathematics or Science and 2 other subjects
A - D or 1 - 5

Note: Applicants applying for this course must ensure that they do not suffer from colour-appreciation deficiency.

Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Medical Manufacturing Technology graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website.

Nitec in Medical Manufacturing Technology graduates with a GPA of 2.3 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.

 

Career Prospects

Nitec in Medical Manufacturing Technology graduates are employed as manufacturing specialist by high value manufacturing industries in particular the Medical Technology, Precision Modules and Components, Aerospace, Machinery and Systems and Transport Engineering sectors.

There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to prepare themselves by upgrading their technical skills and knowledge through higher-level courses.
