Nitec in Product Design



You look at your mobile handphone and wish that the keypads are bigger. Thinking of redesigning it? Then this is the right course for you!

You will learn to produce prototype models, apply colour theories on products and visualise product designs through drawings/sketches.

Entry Requirements

To apply for the Nitec in Product Design course, you need to have:

Completed GCE 'N' or GCE 'O' Level

Note: Applicants applying for this course must ensure that they do not suffer from colour-appreciation deficiency and must attend an interview and pass a drawing test for admission.

Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Product Design graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website.

Nitec in Product Design graduates with a GPA of 2.3 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.

 

Career Prospects

Nitec in Product Design graduates are employed by companies in the creative industries. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Assistant Product Designer, Product Illustrator and Product Model Maker.

There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to prepare themselves by upgrading their technical skills and knowledge through higher-level courses.
