To apply for the Nitec in Security Technology course, you need to have:

Or completed GCE 'N' Level. |
Applicants will be tested for colour recognition disability on admission.
Applicants must attend an interview for admission.
This course comprises full-time campus training and industry-based training.

CORE MODULES
- Electrical and Electronics Principles (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to apply the basic principles of electricity and electronics to perform check and test on electrical and analogue electronics circuits.
- Security Essentials and CAD (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to interpret electrical and installation drawings and apply the fundamentals of sensor technology to interpret the various types of security system application in the security technology sector.
- Computer Essentials and Networking (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to install, configure and troubleshoot computer network system for the wired LAN environment.
- Security Electronics Applications (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to apply the operating principles of various electronics components to interpret the circuitries used in the security systems.
- WLAN Maintenance and Security (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to set up and test Wireless Local Area Network. They will also learn the various network topologies, networking protocols and troubleshooting of networking components.
- Surveillance Systems (7 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to install, commission, maintain and upgrade surveillance systems including CCTV and DVR systems. They will also learn the various types of lenses, photography technique and requirement, technique in digitization and memory storage.
- Intrusion and Access Control Systems (6 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to install, commission, troubleshoot and upgrade intrusion detection and access control systems. They will also learn the various types of biometric readers, card readers, locking systems, controllers, RFID and management software.
- Industry Attachment (8 credits)
Students will undergo a 3-month On-the-Job Training (OJT) course with security systems solution providers to complement and reinforce the skills and knowledge acquired at ITE College and to develop competencies in other systems not covered in the curriculum.

problems involving the use of basic algebra, indices, graphs
and trigonometry.
- Information Transport System (3 credits)

identify the various types of cables and their applications,
apply appropriate testing methods on copper and fibre-optic
cables and diagnose and certify the performance of network
cables.

On completion of the module, students should be able to comprehend descriptive texts, write compositions of descriptive nature and communicate effectively and appropriately in speech and writing.
- English Language 'O' III (3 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to comprehend expository texts, write compositions of expository and persuasive nature, and communicate effectively and appropriately in speech and writing.
- English Language 'O' IV (2 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to comprehend argumentative texts, write compositions of argumentative nature, and communicate effectively and appropriately in speech and writing.
- Mathematics (Levels 1 to 10) (3 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to calculate angles using the angle properties of a circle; construct and describe transformations and solve trigonometrical problems in 2-dimension.
- Mathematics 'O' I (3 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to perform arithmetic calculations, manipulate algebraic expressions, construct and interpret geometrical figures and solve investigative problems.
- Mathematics 'O' II (2 credits)
On completion of the module, students should be able to manipulate indices, equations and inequalities, perform graphing functions, handle problems on mensuration, interpret and use statistical data and solve investigative problems.
