The Global Education Programme (GEP) aims to provide ITE students a holistic education by giving them the opportunity to be exposed to new skills, global mindsets and perspectives, and a better understanding of the culture and lifestyle in other countries. This will enrich their learning experiences and assist them in being well-prepared for the global economy. The GEP framework has two components: Overseas Experiential Programmes and Global Awareness Programmes.
About one in five ITE students has the chance to participate in Overseas Experiential Programmes in more than 20 countries.

1) Overseas Student Exchange
ITE students receive part of their training in overseas institutions and earn credit units at the same time. They have studied in places, such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, PRC China and US.

1) Cultural Diversity Programme
Through life skills lessons, students are able to view slide presentations, videos or audio visuals on the overseas projects carried out by ITE staff and students. Sharing sessions of 'real life' experiences among their peers are also conducted, with global exposure within the classroom setting.

2) Overseas Industrial Attachment
Students are attached to overseas companies for a working stint in areas that they are technically trained to prepare them for the working world. Our students have worked in Australia, Cambodia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, PRC China, Thailand and Vietnam.

2) International Student Programme
ITE students also play host to foreign exchange students at ITE Colleges, thereby creating a culturally vibrant and enriching learning environment.

3) Overseas Community Service Projects
With the spirit of caring and sharing with others, students travel to countries, such as Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, PRC China, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, to work on community service projects. The projects range from setting up of computer labs to maintenance work for schools and orphanages to help the socially disadvantaged groups.

3) Seminars and Workshops
Well-known speakers with global exposure and 'real-life' experience are invited to share their latest global connections around the world and overseas experiences with ITE students.

4) Overseas Cultural Visits & Sports Competitions
Students participate in the overseas cultural visits and sport competitions, with exposure to different cultures, customs and traditions. ITE students have ventured to places such as Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Nepal, PRC China, the Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, US and Vietnam.

"It was a chance I would never miss – to be selected as one of 28 Singapore representatives for the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP). No words could aptly describe the amazing experience that I went through. The 53-day journey, including 19 days of cruising, might sound long to some, but having experienced it firsthand, the days just flew by and I did not want it to end.
The highlight in each country, though, was paying courtesy calls and the dinners hosted by ministers, princes and princesses. The dignitaries we met included Japan Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako, Japan Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak’s wife Rosmah Mansor and Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. It was indeed a great honour and dream come true having the opportunities to meet these personalities in person."
