Entry Requirements
To apply for the Higher Nitec in Accounting course, you need to have:

GCE 'O' level grades in English Language, Mathematics/ Principles of Accounts and 1 other subject

GCE ‘N(A)’ level passes in English Language, Mathematics and 3 other subjects

*GCE N(A) school leavers who applied during the January intake under the Direct Entry Scheme will undergo 10 weeks of preparatory programme followed by 2 years of Higher Nitec training.

Progression Opportunities
Higher Nitec in Accounting graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website.
Career Prospects
Higher Nitec in Accounting graduates may be employed by government departments, statutory boards and private sector companies. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Accounts Assistant and Finance Assistant.
There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.

Accounts Assistants are employed in government departments, statutory boards and private sector companies primarily to assist in the preparation of final accounts, cost accounts as well as tax computations.
|
|
This course is less suitable for students who do not possess the functional abilities indicated. If in doubt, please consult your school career guidance officer or visit ITE College for further academic advising.
|
|
Accounts assistants often assist in the other administrative work in the office where they are required to provide customer service and handle routine office procedures as well as work on the computer using common business software.
|

Accounts Assistants may have to work overtime in the evenings or weekends to meet the tight work schedules during certain periods of the year.
