In this course, you will specialise in troubleshooting, servicing, repairing and maintaining medium and heavy commercial vehicles.

Progression Opportunities
Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicles) graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website.
Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicles) graduates with a GPA of 3.0 and above may also apply for progression to Technical Engineer Diploma in Automotive Engineering course conducted by ITE in collaboration with Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicles) graduates with a GPA of 2.3 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.
Career Prospects
Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicles) graduates are employed by fleet maintenance workshops, public transport companies, distributors of heavy duty diesel plant and vehicles, service garages and government transport departments. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Truck or Bus Service Technician and Diesel Engine Service Technician and Customer Service Advisor.
There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.
