Course Overview
Can you imagine a world without mobile phones?

This course provides students with the technical knowledge and hands-on experience in mobile device servicing. Students will be trained in a fully operational mobile device servicing centre that is setup and equipped with industry relevant equipment for quality technical and customer service training. Students will also have the opportunity to program mobile applications for iOS and Android based mobile devices.

Acquire knowledge and skills which are highly relevant to the industry
- Check the condition and characteristics of basic electronic components.
- Construct electronic projects to given specifications .
- Test, service and repair common electronic equipment and the control system of machinery.
- Assemble/disassemble, troubleshoot and service mobile devices.
- Configure and conduct mobile devices functional, signaling and connectivity tests.
- Provide service excellence in customer care and support for mobile device account services.

To apply for the Nitec in Electronics (Mobile Devices) course, you need to have:

Progression Opportunities
Nitec in Electronics (Mobile Devices) graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website.
Nitec in Electronics (Mobile Devices) graduates with a GPA of 2.3 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.
Career Prospects
Nitec in Electronics (Mobile Devices) graduates are employed by companies that support contract manufacturing services for mobile devices and equipment, components and sub-assemblies and final product for Original Equipment Manufacturers as well as those that provide repairs and refurbishment of mobile devices and testing services. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Mobile Device Specialist, Electronics Production Technician, Electronics Servicing Technician and Electronics Maintenance Technician
There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. This challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.

Electronics Technicians check, test, service and maintain common electronic equipment and set up communication networks. They also construct and prototype simple electronic projects to given specifications.

This course is less suitable for students who do not possess the functional abilities indicated. If in doubt, please consult your school career guidance officer or visit ITE College for further academic advising.
|
|
In responding to requests for maintenance and repair services, electronic technicians must listen to instructions and at times, need to clarify requests to better understand the nature of the requests. They have to maintain the equipment and/or diagnose the faults using technical manuals, appropriate tools and testing equipment and to decide the best approach to facilitate successful outcomes.

Electronic technicians normally work in premises of their organisations. Those who work for third-party support companies may often need to commute and spend considerable time working at a client's locations.
