ITE – 2011 Singapore Quality Award with Special Commendation Winner

Winning the prestigious Singapore Quality Award (SQA) with Special Commendation marks the successful culmination of ITE’s Organisational Excellence journey embarked on since 1995.

The SQA with Special Commendation is the highest accolade, distinguishing ITE as the “best-of-the-best” in Singapore, and for being the First Education Institution to attain world-class business excellence.

Winning the SQA with Special Commendation affirms the nation’s recognition of ITE as a “one-of-its-kind” technical education institution. Since its establishment in 1992 as a post-secondary technical education institution, ITE has transformed from small campuses to today’s mega-Colleges, adopting a total systems approach accelerated by three strategic roadmaps – the ITE 2000 Plan (1995-1999), ITE Breakthrough (2000-2004) and ITE Advantage (2005-2009). Guided by its latest five-year strategic roadmap, ITE Innovate (2010-2014), ITE will continue on its Organisational Excellence journey and strive to be A Global Leader for Innovations in Technical Education.

Singapore Quality Award: Fact File

The SQA is the pinnacle award for business excellence in Singapore. Introduced in 1994 with the Prime Minister as the Patron, the Award is conferred upon the “best-of-the-best” organisations in recognition of their attainment of world-class standards in business excellence. What is more, the SQA is comparable to other global excellence awards like the US Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the European Quality Award and the Australian Business Excellence Award.

Past SQA winners can apply for the SQA with Special Commendation at least 5 years after winning the SQA .The SQA with Special Commendation, launched in 2006, recognises past SQA winners for scaling greater heights of business excellence and for demonstrating sustainable global leadership in key business areas, products or services than when they won the SQA. Applicants need to demonstrate that they are recognised as benchmarks by international organizations.  

The SQA is the highest national award for organisations who have achieved the Business Excellence Standard and is awarded to organisations with management systems and processes that achieve outstanding levels of business excellence in all areas.
