What is COJTC?

The Institute of Technical Education (ITE) launched the Certified On-the-Job Training Centre (COJTC) System in Apr 94 to recognise OJT conducted by employers. The objective of the system is to encourage employers to institutionalise their OJT system so as to improve the quality of OJT and related practices. This would help companies to develop a quality workforce.

Under the COJTC system, ITE, as the national body for skills standards, would certify companies which have quality OJT system. Companies meeting the required standards are accorded recognition as Certified OJT Centres which carry the hallmark of good OJT practices.

OJT certificates issued by companies are recognised by ITE for entry into relevant technical training programmes. Skills Development Fund will subsidise training carried out at a COJTC.

Since its launch, the response from companies to the system has been very good. Started with 14 pioneer companies in 1994, more than 935 companies have since joined the COJTC system. The list of companies includes multi-national corporations and well known local enterprises across all industrial sectors.
