Entry Requirements

GCE 'O' level grades in English Language, Mathematics/Principles of Accounts and 1 other subject:

  • Grade 1-7 in English Language
  • Grade 1-8 in Mathematics (Elementary/Additional) or Principles of Accounts*
  • Grade 1-7 in one other subject
    *To be eligible for selection, you must have sat for Mathematics (Elementary/Additional).

Successful students will be required to purchase a Laptop which will cost about $500 - $1,500 for the 2-year course. This is in addition to the course fees. Nature of Work Functional Abilities
Administrative Assistants/ Personal Assistants are employed by companies in all sectors of the economy, including government departments, statutory boards and private sector companies.  
They are required to handle routine administrative tasks in the office, produce business documents using common software, arrange for meetings and interviews, plan travel arrangements as well as plan office events. finger dexterity, attentive, sensory (visual) ability
In carrying out these tasks, administrative assistants are also expected to be courteous and provide good customer service. communication skills, interaction with strangers, sensory (hearing) ability
As they have to handle a wide portfolio of work, administrative assistants must be able to prioritise their work and have good time management skills.  They may be required to work overtime in the evenings or weekends to meet the tight work schedules during certain periods of the year. dealing with non-routine schedule

Progression Opportunities

Higher Nitec in Human Resource & Administration graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. Some job titles include Human Resource Associate, Payroll Assistant and Corporate Support Associate (HR).

There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.
