Ever wondered how something the size of a truck can be shipped across oceans from Europe to Singapore?
The Higher Nitec in Maritime Business course will teach you the skills and knowledge to coordinate vessel movement and operations, liaise with suppliers, agents and customers and arrange for cargo transhipments. You will also learn about shipping and cargo operations, shipping documentation and administration, ship agency and crew management.
What you'll learn
- Perform shipment coordination
- Process shipping and trade documents
- Process Customs Permits Declaration
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers, forwarders etc.
- Suggest and instruct customers on shipping products and services, schedules, routes and rates
- Respond to customer inquiries on shipping issues

Entry Requirements
GCE 'O' level grades in English Language, Mathematics/Principles of Accounts and 1 other subject:
- Grade 1-7 in English Language
- Grade 1-8 in Mathematics (Elementary/Additional) or Principles of Accounts *
- Grade 1-7 in one other subject
*To be eligible for selection, you must have sat for Mathematics (Elementary or Additional).

Successful students will be required to purchase a Laptop which will cost about $500 - $1,500 for the 2-year course. This is in addition to the course fees. Financial assistance is available for eligible students under ITE Opportunity Fund subject

Progression Opportunities
Higher Nitec in Maritime Business with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website.
