Have you ever wondered how your favourite animated characters come to life?

In the Nitec in Digital Animation course, you will learn to perform tasks such as character designs, storyboarding, colour & background art, staging and layout. In Asset Creation, you will perform tasks like 3D modelling, rigging, lighting and texturing digital characters. In 3D Animation, you will perform tasks such as creating body mechanics, secondary actions, character animation and effects animation. You will also learn to perform post-production tasks like colour correcting, compositing and video editing.

What you'll learn

  • Conduct research on pre-production in the art department
  • Create art to illustrate environment and backgrounds to support production
  • Create textures for application to background and prop models
  • Create simple skeletal and prop rigs for 3D models of characters
  • Execute pre-lighting and post-processing lighting for animation
  • Create 3D animated sequences to support the development of 3D animated media

Entry Requirements

Completed GCE 'N' or GCE 'O' Level

Note:

  • Applicants for this course must ensure that they are free from colour appreciation deficiency.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview and pass an aptitude test for admission.

Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Digital Animation graduates with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 may apply for progression to the following Work-Study Diploma courses at ITE:


Nitec in Digital Animation graduates with a GPA of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website.

Nitec in Digital Animation graduates may apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE, if their GPA meets the requirement of 2.3 or 2.8 for the Higher Nitec course. For more information on progression, please click here.
