Just like cells in a human body, semiconductors are present in many electronic and computing devices which we use in our daily lives.

You will learn electronics fundamentals and manufacturing processes of electronic components, which are commonly known as microchips. These microchips are found in all electronic devices for wireless communications, tablet computers as well as military and clean technology applications. Semiconductor Industry is the largest GDP contributor in Singapore Electronics cluster. It enables Singapore to capture growth opportunities in the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing and mobility trends.

What you'll learn

  • Perform wafer level parametric testing
  • Collect, organise and interpret production and product performance data
  • Monitor and improve process capability, cycle time, yield, cost and quality
  • Participate in process development and yield enhancement programmes
  • Summarise data and information in development programmes
  • Monitor process performance upon equipment modification
  • Document process development programmes
  • Assist in failure analysis

Entry Requirements

GCE ‘O’ level grades in any 2 subjects:

  • Grade 1-8


GCE ‘N’ level passes in Mathematics or Science* and 2 other subjects:

  • Grade A-D or Grade 1-5

* Mobile Robotics and Smart Electrical Technology subjects can be used in lieu of Science for admission to this Nitec course.


  • Applicants applying for this course must ensure that they do not suffer from colour-appreciation deficiency.
  • Students will be required to purchase a Laptop which will cost between $1,000 and $1,400, for their 2-year course of study. This is in addition to the course fees. Financial assistance for the purchase of the PC is available for eligible students under ITE Opportunity Fund subject to terms and conditions. Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Microelectronics graduates with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 may apply for progression to the following Work-Study Diploma courses at ITE:

Nitec in Microelectronics graduates with a GPA of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. For more details on diploma courses for progression, please refer to the Joint Polytechnic Admissions website.

Nitec in Microelectronics graduates with a GPA of 3.0 and above together with 2 years of relevant work experience may apply for progression to a related Technical Engineer Diploma course at ITE.
