Join this course and learn to diagnose, service, repair and maintain modern computer-equipped light vehicles such as passenger cars, sports utility vehicles, multi-purpose vehicles and vans.
Apply your knowledge and gain real-life (on-the-job) training at fleet maintenance workshops.
Acquire knowledge and skills which are highly relevant to the industry
Maintain, service, repair and troubleshoot systems in a light vehicle such as
- Engine system.
- Suspension and steering system.
- Brake system.
- Transmission system.
- Electrical system
- Air-conditioning system.
To apply for the Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicles) course, you need to have:
|Completed GCE 'N' or GCE 'O' Level
This is a two-year course and is available at :
- ITE College West for 2 days per week; and
- Sponsoring Companies for On-the-Job Training (ITE will help you find a sponsoring company.)
Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicles) graduates with good results may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics.
Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicles) graduates with a GPA of 3.0 and above may also apply for progression to Technical Engineer Diploma in Automotive Engineering course conducted by ITE in collaboration with Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicles) graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to related ITE Work-Learn Technical Diploma. For more details, please click here.
Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicles) graduates with a GPA of 2.3 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.
Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicles) graduates are employed by fleet maintenance workshops, service garages, franchised motor dealers, vehicle inspection centres and government transport workshops or depots. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Motor Vehicle Service Technician, Service Adviser and Vehicle Inspector.
There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.
