Course Overview

You see your favourite celebrities on TV and can’t help but notice their unique hairstyles. Instead of admiring their hairstyles, why not learn how to create one?

In this course, you will learn haircutting and chemical techniques to texturise and colour hair to create looks in line with the latest fashion trends.  You will also learn to create hairstyles that are glamourous for functions and events, and have the opportunity to showcase your works in hair shows.

Apply your knowledge and gain real-life (on-the-job) training at hair salons in the hairdressing industry.



Acquire knowledge and skills which are highly relevant to the industry

  • Handle salon operations.
  • Provide customer service.
  • Provide client consultation.
  • Provide shampoo and head massage.
  • Provide creative styling.
  • Perform haircuts.
  • Process permanent waves and hair rebonding.
  • Perform highlighting and creative hair colouring.


Entry Requirements

To apply for the Nitec in Hair Services (Hair Fashion & Design) course, you need to have:

Subject Grade
Completed GCE 'N' or GCE 'O' Level  -

Note: Applicants applying for this course must undergo pre-course interview and clear a pre-entry medical check-up.


Duration and Venue

This is a two-year course and training will be conducted at ITE Approved Training Centres. 


Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Hair Fashion & Design graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to related ITE Work-Study Diploma (previously known as Work-Learn Technical Diploma). For more details, please click here.

Career Prospects

Nitec in Hair Fashion & Design graduates are employed by hair salons in the hairdressing industry. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Junior Hairdresser, Junior Stylist, Hairstylist and Hair Colourist.
