Nitec in Marine Technology
A marine vessel has many machineries that make it a self-sustaining unit at sea. Do you want to play this integral role in servicing, repairing, overhauling and installing the various types of marine diesel engines, steam turbine and marine auxiliary machinery?
Join this course and gain knowledge on interpreting engineering drawings, disassembling and examining faulty machinery and equipment, conducting diagnostic testing, and reconditioning or repairing parts in machinery and components.
Apply your knowledge and gain real-life (on-the-job) training at production facilities within shipyards.
Acquire knowledge and skills which are highly relevant to the industry
- Interpret engineering drawings and manufacturers’ manuals.
- Disassemble machinery and equipment wholly or partly.
- Examine faulty marine machinery components.
- Conduct non-destructive tests on marine machinery components.
- Recondition or repair defective parts in machinery and equipment.
- Test-run repaired machinery, equipment and auxiliary machinery.
To apply for the Nitec in Marine Technology course, you need to have:
|Completed GCE ‘N’ or ‘O’ level
This is a two-year course and training is available at ITE Approved Training Centres.
Nitec in Marine Technology graduates with good results may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics.
Nitec in Marine Technology graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to related ITE Work-Learn Technical Diploma. For more details, please click here.
Nitec in Marine Technology graduates with a GPA of 2.3 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.
