Course Overview

If you are, then look no further, because this is the course for you! Robotics are a crucial part of today’s manufacturing industries because such automated functionality allows industries to increase their productivity. 

Join this course and learn to install, set up, operate, maintain and service industrial automated production equipment and systems.



Acquire knowledge and skills which are highly relevant to the industry

  • Install, maintain and service pneumatic and electro-pneumatic controlled systems
  • Construct and assemble mechanical support
  • Prepare and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Install and test electrical systems
  • Install and test peripheral devices and microcomputer controlled systems
  • Troubleshoot electronics systems
  • Set up embedded and robotic systems
  • Set up industrial automation systems, modify PLC program and troubleshoot a simple automated production system at module level


Entry Requirements

To apply for the Nitec in Mechatronics & Robotics course, you need to have:

Subject Grade
GCE ‘O’ level grades in any 2 subjects 1 - 8
GCE ‘N’ level passes in Mathematics or Science* and 2 other subjects A - D or 1 - 5

*Mobile Robotics and Smart Electrical Technology subjects can be used in lieu of Science for admission to this Nitec course.

Note: Applicants applying for this course must ensure that they do not suffer from colour-appreciation deficiency. 


Duration and Venue

This is a two-year course and is available at :

  • ITE College Central for 1 - 2 days per week; and
  • Sponsoring companies for On-the-Job Training (ITE will help you find a sponsoring company.)

Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Mechatronics & Robotics graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. 

Nitec in Mechatronics & Robotics graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 and above may apply for progression to the Technical Engineer Diploma in Machine Technology course conducted by ITE in collaboration with Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), Baden-Württemberg, Germany. 

Graduates from
Nitec in Mechatronics & Robotics with a GPA ≥ 3.0 can progress directly to Year 2 of Higher Nitec in Mechatronics Engineering course. For more information on progression, please click here


Career Prospects

Nitec in Mechatronics & Robotics graduates are employed by companies in the high-technology manufacturing and servicing industries. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Automation Technician, Automated Equipment Maintenance Technician and Mechatronics Technician.

Nitec in Mechatronics & Robotics graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to related ITE Work-Study Diploma (previously known as Work-Learn Technical Diploma). For more details, please click here.
