Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicles)

In this course, you will specialise in troubleshooting, servicing, repairing and maintaining medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
Apply your knowledge and gain real-life (on-the-job) training at fleet maintenance workshops.
Acquire knowledge and skills which are highly relevant to the industry
Maintain, service, repair and troubleshoot systems in a heavy vehicle such as
- Engine system.
- Suspension and steering system.
- Brake system.
- Power train system.
- Electrical system.
- Air-conditioning system.
To apply for the Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicles), you need to have:
|Completed GCE 'N' or GCE 'O' Level
This is a two-year course and training is available at ITE Approved Training Centres.
Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicles) graduates with good results may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics.
Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicles) graduates with a GPA of 3.0 and above may also apply for progression to Technical Engineer Diploma in Automotive Engineering course conducted by ITE in collaboration with Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicles) graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to related ITE Work-Study Diploma (previously known as Work-Learn Technical Diploma). For more details, please click here.

Nitec in Automotive Technology (Heavy Vehicles) graduates are employed by fleet maintenance workshops, public transport companies, distributors of heavy duty diesel plant and vehicles, service garages and government transport departments. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Truck or Bus Service Technician and Diesel Engine Service Technician and Customer Service Advisor.
There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. The challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.
