Traineeship is a formal training arrangement involving three parties: the trainee, the employer and ITE. Over 25 courses from 12 trade clusters are offered under ITE’s traineeship system.
The role of the trainee is to pursue and complete the course within the given duration to the satisfaction of the sponsoring company.
The sponsoring company agrees to train and instruct the trainee and assign a qualified trainer who would supervise and monitor the trainee's progress throughout the course.
Traineeship gives the applicant several advantages:
> Learn from qualified and experienced trainers
> Acquire life skills through on-the-job training
> Enjoy similar benefits as other employees in the company
> Gain a head start in career
> Receive the same National Certificate as full-time ITE graduates
> Obtain an additional certificate – The Traineeship Certificate
> Have the same opportunities as full-time graduates to upgrade skills through further education
The training received by a trainee comprises off-the-job training and on-the-job training. Under the off-the-job training component, trainees are taught the technical knowledge and techniques while under the on-the-job training component, trainees apply the knowledge and skills learnt in the off-the-job component.
