Introduction
1. Good morning and a warm welcome to ITE College East! It’s wonderful to see so many passionate minds gathered here today for a topic that’s shaping our future — Sustainable Energy Solutions.
2. Today’s seminar, themed “Sustainable Energy Solutions: The Role of Battery Storage in a Green Economy”, brings together thought leaders, industry experts, and academic partners who actively drive innovation in the energy sector.
3. As Singapore takes steps toward a clean and more resilient energy future, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), have emerged as a cornerstone technology. BESS not only enhances the reliability of the power grid but also facilitates the integration of renewable resources and improves overall energy efficiency. By allowing us to store surplus energy and delivering during periods of high demand or limited sunlight, BESS gives us the flexibility needed for a robust energy ecosystem.
4. Earlier today this morning, we reached a significant milestone as our Guest-of-Honour, Mr Puah Kok Keong, officially launched our campus’ own BESS. This achievement reflects our commitment on hands-on, future-ready education and provides our students with valuable, practical experiences in operating and maintaining cutting edge energy solutions.
MOU Partnership
5. To cultivate the next generation of clean energy professionals, we are proud to announce the strategic partnership with Green Tenaga and Narada Asia Pacific. This collaboration is aimed at co-developing industry-relevant curricular and introducing targeted short courses for students, adult learners and mid-career professionals.
6. By equipping participants with practical skills in emerging energy storage technologies, we ensure our education remains aligned with Singapore’s sustainability objectives and responsive industry needs.
Seminar Speakers
7. This morning, we are privileged to host four distinguished speakers who will share their expertise and perspectives on sustainable energy.
● Mr Philip Lee, Vice President of Green Tenaga, who will highlight the significance of our collaboration and the role of BESS in building a resilient energy future. He will also highlight the importance of industry-academia collaborations, the nurturing of future-ready talent, and the role of BESS in strengthening grid reliability, renewable integration, and building a sustainable, resilient energy future for Singapore.
● Mr Peter Ng, Business Consultant of Narada Asia Pacific, who will review the evolution of energy storage in the ASEAN region, highlighting growth opportunities and future trends.
● Mr Alex Pan, Commercial Director of Green Tenaga, who will address best practices, safety design and regulatory compliance for BESS’ fire protection systems.
● Mr Jeffrey Tan, Vice President of GoNetZero, who will showcase how data-driven approaches can accelerate decarbonisation and maximise the benefits of renewable energy.
8. Additionally, our panel of industry and academic experts will discuss strategies to scale energy storage, to capability building and real-world deployment, fostering a collaborative approach to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
9. I’m confident that the dialogues initiated today will inspire innovative ideas and forge new partnerships in our pursuit of sustainability.
Conclusion
10. In closing, I’d like to extend my gratitude to Mr Puah and Mr Teo for officiating the launch of the new BESS and to our MOU partners, Green Tenaga and Narada Asia Pacific, as well as all my industry collaborators. Your support of ITE and our students underscores your commitment in driving the transition toward a clean, sustainable energy to advance storage solutions.
11. Thank you all for being here today. Let us seize this opportunity to learn, connect and work together toward a greener, more sustainable future. Thank you very much.
