Factsheet - Close to 1,000 ITE Students to Support Return of Singapore Formula 1 Race in 2022

Over 900 students from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) will be supporting the running of the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2022, in areas such as hospitality operations and customer service.

The students are from various courses across ITE’s three Colleges, which include event management, travel and tourism, business, architectural technology, and product design. They will be performing roles such as Service Ambassadors, Information Booth Ambassadors, Gate and Grandstand Access Officials, and Circuit Park Guides at the event, which takes place from 30 September to 2 October 2022. Fifty students will also be serving as flag-bearers during the national anthem before the start of the race.

Background

Their participation comes as part of a long-standing collaboration between ITE and race organiser Singapore GP, which aims to provide real-world training and work experiences for students at a major international sporting event. First established in 2009, the 13-year partnership was renewed for another seven years in 2022. To date, close to 10,000 ITE students have been involved in supporting the F1 race in Singapore. 

This year’s F1 race is the first to be held in Singapore since the COVID-19 pandemic.
