Graduate	Description
Name: William Cheong Age: 47 Occupation: Lecturer at ITE	William was from the first cohort of the TED in Automotive Engineering course that graduated in 2012. He is now a lecturer at ITE, teaching automotive engineering. William enrolled in the TED in Automotive Engineering course, as he has a long-time interest in cars and wanted to deepen his knowledge in this field. Prior to that, he was working as a process engineer for 15 years and had also taken a part-time Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicles) course at ITE. William excelled in the TED in Automotive Engineering course, achieving the course Gold Medal for his outstanding performance. Having benefited from the course, he felt inspired to impart the knowledge and skills he learnt to others who share a similar passion in the automotive field. This shaped his decision to return to ITE and become a lecturer in automotive engineering. To William, this is a way of giving back to society and developing the next generation of talents for the industry.
Name: Sofian Bin Abu Samah, Ian Sam Age: 30 Occupation: Technical Trainer at Subaru Academy	Sofian graduated from the TED in Automotive Engineering course in 2015. He enrolled in the course as he wanted to develop himself professionally for a career in the automotive sector. He had earlier attained a Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicles) in 2007, and worked for a few years at an automobile workshop providing troubleshooting and repair services. Sofian is now a Technical Trainer at Subaru Academy, run by Motor Image Enterprises. Sofian and his team train technicians not only for the local market, but also for the Group’s companies in the region. Beyond that, Sofian helps to train ITE trainees from the Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicles) course who are attached to his company. He finds his greatest fulfilment in seeing his trainees progressing well in their careers, and helping to ignite their passion in automotive engineering. He aspires to head a training department in future, and inspire many more others to excel in Singapore’s automotive sector.
Name: Chen Zhen Yu Age: 25 Occupation: Assistant Engineer at Samwoh Corporation	Zhen Yu graduated from the TED in Automotive Engineering course in 2018. He is now an Assistant Engineer at Samwoh Corporation, a local building and construction company. In this role, he manages the production of construction materials and helps with maintaining the company’s fleet of heavy commercial vehicles. Zhen Yu has always been very passionate about automobiles. This began from his interest in racing cars in secondary school. To pursue this passion, he joined the traineeship scheme of the Nitec in Automotive Technology (Light Vehicles) course and was attached to Tan Chong Motor for 2 years. He then enrolled in the TED in Automotive Engineering course to build his skills in this field. Zhen Yu excelled in it, and even achieved the cohort’s “Student of the Year Award 2018”. He also clinched third place at the ITE Automotive Skills Competition, where competitors have to solve real-world automotive challenges. Zhen Yu aspires to build a career in automotive engineering, and contribute to the growth of the sector in Singapore.
