Thank you very much for being here at the opening of the Logistics Technology Hub today. It is very good to see our partners from the logistics sector, trade associations and Institutes of Higher Learning joining us for this meaningful occasion.
Logistics is a key enabler of global trade. Today, it is undergoing rapid transformation as digital technologies reshape how goods move, how supply chains are orchestrated, and how organisations create value. This new Hub represents ITE’s commitment to preparing our trainees in this new era of technology-enabled logistics. It is more than just a training facility; it is a living laboratory designed to ensure that every student and trainee is prepared for a future driven by data, automation, and sustainability, areas that are especially critical in the logistics industry.
With the close collaborations from the industry, the Hub features capabilities that reflect real-world advancements driving transformation in the logistics sector, enabling goods to be moved more effectively, efficiently and sustainably. These capabilities range from a Digital Twin Command Centre that simulates live supply chain environments, to technologies such as robotics, big data analytics, and autonomous systems. These industry-grade technologies have been fully integrated into both our curriculum and learning spaces.
Annually, this facility will support about 600 full-time students in the Higher Nitec in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and 150 trainees from the Work-Study Diploma in Integrated Supply Chain Management.
This afternoon, we will formalise our collaboration with four industry partners through a Memorandum of Understanding. My heartfelt thanks to Bok Seng Logistics, CK Shipping, Sin Chew Woodpaq and Cargo Community Network, for partnering us to enrich our curriculum, particularly in specialised project cargo and air cargo solutions, provision of knowledge transfer through local and overseas attachment opportunities for staff and students, sharing of training materials from the industry, learning journeys, book prizes, guest speakers and more. Your commitment ensures that our trainees gain the latest skills and industry exposure. We also want to take this opportunity to extend our deep appreciation to our supportive partners, Boon Software, Omron, Linde, Muratec, PSA, PIL and ST Logistics, whose generous technology and equipment sponsorships have been instrumental to complete this facility.
Thank you for your trust, partnership and belief in ITE as a training provider of choice for the logistics workforce of tomorrow. Allow me to share one inspiring example of what this partnership ecosystem can achieve.
Filbert Ho exemplifies the success of the tripartite collaboration between ITE, our industry partners, and our trainees. Filbert successfully completed his Nitec in Logistics Services with a near-perfect GPA of 3.86 in Dec 2023. During his six-month internship at SFS Global, he gained extensive knowledge in cold chain logistics management and rotated across multiple departments, allowing him to have a deeper understanding of the entire logistics ecosystem. His training, both on campus and in the field, equipped him with strong technical and employability skills that prepared him to meet workplace demands. His achievements include winning the Supply Chain Challenge Championship in 2023, delivering an award-winning project as well as achieving the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Model Student Award, the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal, the Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding All-Round Achievement and the Tan Kah Kee Scholarship. Filbert is currently a Year 2 trainee pursuing the Work-Study Diploma in Logistics & Supply Chain Management with ITE. He is a fine example of how strong partnerships between ITE, industry and trainees can create shared success.
Apart from Filbert, many of our students are passionate about the logistics industry. Initiatives like this Hub are designed to train them well and help create a sustained pipeline of talent for the sector.
I invite all our guests to join us for a guided tour after the ceremony, to experience the Digital Twin, the Smart Warehouse, and the Cold Chain operations in action. We also welcome our Institutes of Higher Learning partners to use this space to co-create solutions for the industry.
Thank you, SMS Low, for gracing this event and everyone else for your support, partnership and presence. I wish you a fruitful networking session.
